Fence built for plateau ground
Most of the fence we build goes into rock. Dig anywhere in Cumberland County and you'll hit sandstone, sometimes at three feet and sometimes at eight inches, and a crew that quotes this ground the way they'd quote flat valley dirt either runs out of budget partway through or quietly starts setting posts shallow.
A shallow post on freeze-thaw ground works loose in about two winters. That single decision, made on the first morning of the job when nobody is watching, is the difference between a fence that's plumb in fifteen years and one that's leaning in three. We set to the depth the hole actually requires, and we bring equipment that gets through rock rather than stopping at it.
You deal with the owner, start to finish
Upper Cumberland Fence is owner-operated. Cody quotes the job, Cody is on the job, and Cody is who you call if something isn't right. There's no salesman who disappears after the contract and no crew showing up to build something different from what got discussed.
That's also why the quote holds. The person giving you the price is the person doing the work, so there's nobody to blame for an estimate that was optimistic. What we quote is what you pay.
Ten years of it, across sixteen towns
We've been at this for over a decade, working out from Crossville across the plateau and down into the valleys on both sides. That covers a lot of different ground: golf-course lots in Fairfield Glade with a committee to satisfy, cattle ground in Bledsoe and Overton counties, lakefront in Kingston and Byrdstown where wind off the water takes down anything solid, and hillside in Jackson County where nothing runs level.
Each of those wants a different fence. Knowing which one before we start is most of the job.
